Burkina Faso has been hard hit by conflict and fragility, and needs both income and jobs. Warfair cooperates with Package a Swiss emergency label on imports of cashew nuts directly from the undertaking; Gebana Burkina Faso,.

Nuts are purchased from over 3.000 families organised in cooperatives. They are harvested and dried by farmers and then processed locally at the factory where they are cleaned, cut off and dried. It provides better quality, traceability and increased returns for farmers.

Farmers receive a fair trade bonus for cashews. There are good 450-men and women working in the factory, and they also get a pay bonus, they have a health system and they are in the local trade union.
