Virunga Origins | Chocolate from Congo
Virunga Origins Chocolate from Congo. A unique and tasty quality chocolate produced in the eastern Congo (DRC) by a company established in conjunction with Virunga National Park and with the help of Belgium’s leading chocolate experts.
A handmade social enterprise. 100% of all profits go back to Virunga National Park and its surrounding communities. Their factory sources directly from the producers, which cuts out the middlemen. The factory employs and trains local workers and they prioritise the widows of the Rangers who were killed while protecting the Park.
In one of the areas of the world that is and has been hardest hit by both conflict, poverty and disease with ebola and corona, chocolate production contributes to sustainability, peace and prosperity. These beautiful products on my webshop, are a result of a collaboration with Warfair. Warfair imports products from former warzone countries, in order to support these beautiful places to regain their livinghood.
“It’s simple. When you buy the chocolate, the farmers around Virunga National Park will be happy. The park rangers will be happy. The gorillas and the rest of animal life will be happy. And when you take the first bite, you will also be extremely happy. That is what we call double joy!”
